Events Director at Hawaii Bicycling League and part time bartender. Always with a sunny disposition. I've been biking for more than a decade and I added running to my list of hobbies about six years ago. About four years ago I set my sights on doing a triathlon. I did my first half Ironman in 2018 in under six hours was happy with that result. After taking a year break and focusing on running, just qualified for Boston and Kona.
What is my why? Why I bike and run is to add some meaning to my life. It gives me some personal value. I can work hard and improve in physical fitness and see qualitatively that I've improved. That I was better than I was before. Over the last two years, I've lost over 40 pounds; I am back down to what I weighed when I was in middle school. For the first time ever, I can do pull ups. Along with the fitness benefits, I bike and run to challenge myself mentally. I never thought I would be able to achieve what I have so far and the drive to what to achieve even more is a feeling that I am happy to have. Overall, my reasons for the long runs, the hard intervals, and the time spent away from family and friends is that I know it’s making me a better person and enabling me to see the world in a better light.
