My name is Michael Block. I am a triathlete currently based in Denver, Colorado. I took up the sport almost 10 years ago while I was deployed in Afghanistan. I realize that may sound a bit odd, but it’s true. Being separated from my family (my youngest daughter was only a month old when I left for a year) and the stress of the deployment led to some dark days and depression. A friend introduced me to Team Red White & Blue and their mission of enriching the lives of vets through physical and social activity. It was the spark I needed. I joined the online community and saw they had a triathlon team. I jumped in full gas. Our makeshift gym had a rickety old stationary bike and a treadmill. I started training every day, and worked myself to two a days. I signed up for the Los Angeles Triathlon so I could race when I returned home. I wound up finishing in the top ten of my age group, and I was totally hooked. I have been training and racing ever since (on my FLO 60 and FLO Disc wheels). I’ve raced sprints to Ironman distances, and my goals are to qualify for the IM 70.3 and IM world championships. I look forward to the opportunity to represent FLO Cycling and can honestly say I am one very satisfied customer!
