Tough course with a decent amount of climbing for the Midwest. There was a little bit of everything; mud, sand, fresh, loose gravel. Also there were 4 water crossings. This is one of my favorite races and it keeps getting bigger every year.
I got dropped pretty hard on the first 1.5 mile climb about 10 miles in but I was able to nickel and dime my way back to the front by mid race. Then we hit more hills and I went to the back again. I was able to finish strong and even passed a few people on the last climb coming back to the finish. I ended up in 34th place out of 160... maybe not what I had envisioned but not terrible either.
