July 06, 2020 - Strava Segment TT racing is a thing now it seems
So, the local TT series has started doing Strava segment races. I know most/all people on Strava already do it, and I am as guilty as the next person, but I didn't really expect this to be how racing is done now. I mean, I'll take it, but I still miss the comaraderie of being able to walk around and talk to people and oogle nice bike parts which is about as much as usually happens at a TT anyway.
At any rate, I have/had been riding a fair amount, for me, and was fairly confident that I would be able to do alright. The biggest issue I have been having is that since I only got my TT bike earlier this year, I haven't been able to have a real, nice fit done. I have no idea how much potential speed I am leaving on the table since I don't know how the aerodynamics of my self-performed fit are compared to how a nice fit would have them.
The nice thing about the Strava side of things is that since the start list for the race is online, you can see how the competition is doing in real time and know how fast you need to go in order to snag a win. With that knowledge in mind, I set out to do what I could and was able to snag the win, it felt good, and I won by a healthy margin, so now it's just to see how much speed I can pick up as the year goes on.
